About our Products

So many choices of Soft, Hybrid, or Hard mouth guards… Which type should I order?

Dentists usually can give you a recommendation on the type of night guard that you need. The type of guard usually depends on your level of grinding.

A soft night guard is made for light/mild grinders who clench their teeth at night. It’s made from a 2 mm layer of flexible, rubbery, and soft material and provides a cushion-like barrier between the teeth.

The hybrid night guard is the most popular product and made for moderate grinding. It’s approximately 3mm thick with a hard outer layer for durability and a soft inner layer for a comfortable fit. Many believe that this is the best combination of comfort and durability.

The hard night guard is the most durable and usually the best option for heavy grinders with severe symptoms. It’s made from a 3mm layer of durable elasticized acrylic material. This special thermo-plastic material softens in warm water to allow for a more comfortable fit.

The ultra-thin daytime guard is best for people who grind or clench their teeth during the day. It’s made from a 1mm layer of acrylic and it’s much thinner and less noticeable than the rest. However, due to its thinness, it’s usually not durable enough to hold up against night time grinding.

Are you unsure of how heavy of a grinder you are? The best way to find out is to directly consult with your dentist. In most cases, heavy grinders will experience severe symptoms and are fully aware that they grind heavily. If your dentist told you that you are grinding your teeth, but you weren’t aware of it, you are most likely a moderate grinder and the hybrid night guard would usually be the best choice.

Upper or Lower guard: which one should I order? Or both?

The upper guard is the default choice but we offer a choice of upper OR lower guard because some customers find it more comfortable to wear one vs. the other.

Over 90% of customers choose the upper guard and find it more comfortable since it doesn’t get in the way of their tongue as much as the lower guard. You may opt for a lower guard if you prefer the fit or if you’ve had some dental work done previously like crowns or implants or if your dentist recommends a lower guard instead.

Usually, you only need one upper OR a lower guard to protect against teeth grinding. The night guard sits between your upper & lower teeth and functions as an effective protective barrier. Only one guard is necessary, unless your dentist recommends that you wear both.

How long will the night guard last?

The durability of the night guard usually depends a lot on the severity of your grinding. Night guards can last anywhere between 6 months to a few years.

What materials are the night guards made of?

Since we’re a professional dental lab servicing dentists, we use the exact same materials as the night guards we craft for dentists. The hard night guard is made from a firm plastic material called acrylic. The hybrid night guard is made from two layers of different materials: a hard acrylic outer layer and a vinyl soft inner layer. The soft night guard is made from a soft vinyl material. All materials are safety-approved and come from professional dental industry suppliers.

How our Process Works

How do I take my teeth impression?

You will receive detailed instructions, with photos, in the home impression kit we send you to take your teeth impressions. The entire process only takes about 15 minutes.

The impression kit includes dental impression trays for upper and lower teeth, impression putty (with an extra set in case you need to do a re-take), and a pre-paid return envelope.

How long does it take to get my night guard?

The entire process from ordering, to getting an impression kit, to receiving your completed custom night guard usually takes around 1 – 2 weeks.

All orders are shipped within 1 - 2 business days. The time it takes to receive your kit in the mail will be 3 – 5 business days, depending on your location. We provide free shipping and all orders are shipped from California.

Once you receive your kit, please take your impressions and return them to the lab using the pre-paid return envelope. Once we receive your impressions, we will custom make your night guard within 6 – 10 business days and ship it to your address.

If you’d like to get the guard faster, you can upgrade to the paid USPS priority option for faster shipping times (2 days for most areas).

Ordering, Shipping and Returns

Do you take insurance or HSA/FSA?

We don’t have the capability of dealing directly with insurance companies; however, we do provide you with an itemized receipt that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Many of our past customers have submitted our receipts for reimbursements successfully.

We recommend that you check with your insurance company directly to see if this is an option.

To submit a receipt for reimbursement with your insurance, first make the purchase on a regular credit card. You’ll receive our receipt via email and you can submit it to your insurance. If for some reason your insurance or HSA/FSA card provider won’t cover the cost of the guard, you can contact us to cancel your order and return your purchase for a 100% refund.

I have an existing mold of my teeth: can I use it for my order?

We prefer that you go through our impression process. It’s difficult for us to guarantee an accurate fit if you use a previous impression, since it could be due to factors outside of our control. If you’d still prefer to use your existing mold, please contact us to arrange for a special order.

Do you ship outside of the USA?

Sorry, currently, we only ship within the US.

What if the night guard I get doesn’t fit the impression? Can I return it?

We guarantee a perfect fit and 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Our professional dental lab is owned and managed by a dental lab technician with over 20 years of experience. Each month, we deliver hundreds of perfectly fitted night guards, partial and full dentures, dental crowns and bridges to our existing dentist clients. Each product is carefully inspected to ensure that it fits perfectly on the exact replica mold of your teeth. So, the chance that your custom night guard won’t fit is low.

However, we’re committed to your complete comfort and satisfaction. So if you’re not completely satisfied with the fit of your night guard, please contact us with your order number and we will resolve the issue to your full satisfaction. We provide free adjustments and if necessary, we’ll send you a new impression kit free of charge to re-take your impressions.

Other Frequently Asked Questions

Is it really the exact same quality as what I get at the Dentist?

Yes, we are operated by a professional dental lab in California that currently makes night guards for dentists.

We use the same materials and process for our online customers at Easy Night Guard. If you lived in Northern California and paid $400 (or more) for a night guard at a dentist, there’s a chance that the night guard was made at our dental lab.

Why is it so much cheaper than what my Dentist quoted me?

Our price is significantly lower than what the dentist charges because you don’t pay the dentist’s markup (usually 200% to 400%). Think of ordering online as the getting the “factory direct” price.

There are some instances where the dentist does provide additional services that justify the markup. For example, if you have jaw issues and you need a dental night guard that helps aligns your teeth and jaw in a certain way, the dentist may need to perform multiple adjustments at the time of fitting.

However, for the majority of people who simply need a night guard to protect against teeth grinding and clenching, our product is exactly the same as what you would get from a dentist.
